An art deco delight by NH Collection Valencia

Updated: Jan 23, 2023

A former 19th-century palace set on Valencia's key shopping street, the NH Collection Valencia opened its doors to guests in 2019, offering a delightful restaurant, piano bar, and a sun-trap rooftop bar in the heart of the city. And with its extensive facilities and mesmerising views, it's one of the best hotels in Valencia's vibrant centre for business travellers and romances alike. Discover buzzing nightlife, boutique shopping and the charming Old Town, all a short stroll away.

The location

Set on Calle Colón, a wide and curved street at the heart of some of Valencia's best shopping and dining experiences, this hotel enjoys a privileged location where nothing is too far away. This is the upmarket Colon area of Eixample, known for its Modernista buildings with their elegant, sculpted facades.

Discover the secrets of succulent Valencian cuisine in the art nouveau Mercado de Colón, immerse yourself in local history at the National Museum of Ceramics, or explore the archaeological remnants of Roman Valencia at the nearby Amoina Museum.

The style

It is housed in a 19th-century palace; when you walk through the doorway, you'll find a gleaming art deco lobby with inky intrigue, all black and white marble, black wood-panelled walls and touches of gold.

These ornate interiors are the work of Lorenzo Castillo, a highly accomplished Spanish designer who has transformed these halls into a unique city-centre haven. Rich blues, intense greens and subtle greys give the hotel a more is-more feel when combined with curated artwork echoing the building's stately roots and buzzy, high-design wallpaper.

The facilities

Handcrafted cocktails are served at the Kamikaze Piano Club, where a tartan-fronted bar and green wood panelling blend with black-and-white naval-themes wallpaper and plush leather sofas and gold light fittings and chandeliers. The Kamikaze Restaurant continues the busy wallpaper and wood panelling theme, creating a surprisingly cosy atmosphere in an open-plan space outside the bar.

The perfect place for a sundowner, the mesmerising views from the Kamikaze Terrace Sky Bar, considered one of the top rooftop bars in Valencia. The centrepiece is the bar, housed in a bright white kiosk with tables scattered around where you can sip wine or cocktail, enjoy some food, or even enjoy live music.

The rooms

The rooms and suites are decorated in an individual style, with natural touches, modern comforts and that same touch of luxury present throughout the hotel. The rooms are divided into three styles: an Indian theme featuring exotic birds in a blue and white palette, English rooms decorated in earthen tones, and a French style, with check fabric and rich navy and green colours.

Distinct, quirky, and luxuriously comfortable, floods of Spanish sunlight lend the rooms a positive ambience, while modern amenities such as Nespresso coffee machines and flat-screen TVs bring you back to the 21st Century. The best part? Ultra-comfortable mattresses and a choice of pillows make for a heavenly night's sleep in your colourful, textile-rich surroundings.

Food and drink

Start your day with hot pastries, fresh fruits, cold cuts, cheeses, and eggs cooked to order. If you have a particularly early start, you can request breakfast sent to your room starting from 5 am. Later, enjoy some English flair in the elegant Piano Bar, where you can opt for a burst of caffeine or a spot of something stronger while you admire the incredible, four-metre-long piano.
